Shakespeare uses imagery of body parts throughout the entire play. I found that Act 1, Act 2, and Act 5 have body parts being mentioned multiple times within each of the acts.
2b. In what context?
In the beginning of the play Shakespeare uses body parts to show feelings towards another person. But towards the end body parts lead to a lot of fighting because people think Viola and Sebastian are the same person

Shakespeare uses body parts a lot to make you feel how he wants you to feel

Brandon, I like that you mentioned Shakespeare's use of body parts to express feelings that one character has for another in this play. I also think that the transformation from how they were portrayed in the beginning to how they are used in the end is important in realizing how the tension forms and how the mentioning of a body part might be used to mock or in a negative connotation.
ReplyDeleteDo you have more ideas about the catalogue of body parts now? Having read "My mistress' eyes" you probably can now see how innovative Sh's categorizations are. Recall the scheme for describing or delineating beauty in this time period.
